Removing foul odors from composting equipment

This is a case of removing foul odors generated from composting equipment on a pig farm.

A rotary type composting device was installed inside the greenhouse near the back, but foul odors mainly consisting of ammonia were generated inside.

The box near the front is the deodorization tank. A duct runs from the greenhouse to the deodorization tank, and it is filled with porous glass deodorant to remove foul odors.

This is the surface of the deodorization tank. The tank is filled with porous glass deodorant.

Before deodorization the level was 140 ppm, but this was reduced to 2 ppm after removal.

The removal rate is 99%.

Later a vertical fermentation device was introduced to the farm. In addition to the rotary tank, the compost exhaust gas was connected to the deodorization tank. As a result, the exhaust gas volume increased, and exhaust gas concentration rose to 700 ppm.

Currently concentration at the surface of the deodorization tank is approximately 70 ppm, and the removal rate is 90%.
