Arakawa Sangyo Co., Ltd. in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture introduced our EasyJet as recycling equipment for food waste. Here we give an overview of the case.
Arakawa Sangyo in Fukushima Prefecture is a comprehensive recycling company with 8 offices and processing facilities, based in Aizuwakamatsu.
They have now entered the food recycling business, with the aim of composting food waste discharged from neighboring areas and promoting recycling of resources in the region.
They plan to take in about 5 tons of waste per day at this facility, which has an area of 370 m2.
The moisture content of the food waste used as materials can be as high as 95%, so it is mixed in a ratio of 1:1 to with return compost before composting.
These mixed materials are then placed on EasyJet, in order to produce compost without turning over.
Soon after starting fermentation, the temperature starts to rise and exceeds 75˚ C in a short time.
A few days after starting fermentation, actinomycetes appear as shown in the photo, and it is clear that fermentation is proceeding smoothly.
Moreover, using EasyJet, there is no strong ammonia odor generated as there is with blower aeration, so it is very easy to manage odors. Even at this facility, there is no deodorization device, only ventilation on-site, but there is almost no odor inside the facility.
The compost is then used as return compost and recycled in the region as high quality compost.
It is a simple facility with a relatively small area, and no attached equipment for deodorization or the like. By building several such compact facilities at the places where garbage is generated, it is possible to reduce transportation time and the cost of material waste, and build recycling facilities that are better serve the community.
This may become the new main style of regional recycling.
