For Sludge – Medium to Large Scale – Low Running Cost Composting Case (Introduced to: Recycling Facility A)
This is a case of recycling at a plant that automated the sludge preparation process. There is not much turn over work, so fuel costs and labor costs can be drastically reduced.
Furthermore, it is possible to select a return compost system, which helps to reduce auxiliary material purchase costs.
Sludge contains polymer flocculant. When mixed with auxiliary materials using heavy machinery (a loader), it forms large clumps, so it takes time to prepare and incurs heavy fuel and labor costs. At this plant, by automating preparation work and eliminating turn over work in the fermentation process, they were able to do operation with extremely low running costs.
Besides this case, there are also facilities that chose an operating method which uses return compost with a combination of aeration systems.
Moisture is efficiently evaporated, so it can reliably produce return compost. It is possible to reduce the amount of wood and other expensive auxiliary materials purchased, thereby further reducing running costs.
