Overview of Composting at K Company
This facility in Ibaraki Prefecture that recycles wood chips and other materials is a recycling company that specializes in composting grass clippings and wood chips.
The facility was upgraded to enable composting of 20,000 tons per year.
To compost large volumes of material in a short time, the Easy Jet, which evenly supplies air to the top of the compost, was installed in the floor of the composting shed.
Composting Flow
(1)Accumulate shredded material in the Easy Jet
(2)Regularly water while performing ventilation and turning with the Easy Jet
(3)Mature in the curing yard. Composting takes a total of 3 months
(4)The produced compost is partially screened and then automatically bagged by a bagging robot
Introduction of the “Easy Jet”
The Easy Jet features a special nozzle with minimal clogging and easy maintenance.
By adjusting the airflow, compost drying can be controlled with precision.
This ensures a consistent fermentation temperature throughout the year, allowing stable composting.
Dried compost can be sold or reused as return compost.
By reutilizing previously unused materials, a more environmentally friendly facility has been created.
Odor Control in Composting Facilities
When addressing odor issues, it is important to consider surrounding environments, facility conditions, working environments, and deodorizing equipment maintenance capabilities to develop appropriate measures.
However, removing odors after they have occurred is often technically and economically burdensome.
To ensure high-quality compost, a sprinkler system was also installed on top.
Using the EasyJet on the floor ensures even oxygen distribution throughout the compost, maintaining constant aerobic fermentation and minimizing unpleasant odors due to fermentation issues.
Additionally, the significant reduction in turning operations by heavy machinery also eliminates odors produced during turning, keeping the composting shed hygienic.
