Horse Manure Composting Reuse and Recycle within the Facility!

Background of Introduction

Traditionally, we have composted horse manure produced by dozens of horses at our existing ranch, utilizing it to promote the growth of pasture grass.

However, the horse manure had to be turned over many times for Composting, which was not a small labor burden for the ranch employees, and a major challenge was to reduce this burden.

When establishing a new horse ranch, we decided to install composting equipment, but since there won’t be dozens of horses year-round, we are not considering large-scale equipment.

We researched various composting equipment, but most of the equipment designed for livestock farming was large-scale, with substantial initial investment costs.

Reasons for Choosing MIRAIE

After extensively searching for a small-scale and as simple as possible composting system, we finally found Easy Jet from MIRAIE CORPORATION.

Since the company was located far away in Shimane Prefecture, we initially had concerns about maintaining the functionality and care of the equipment, but once we started composting, as explained, the odor of horse manure gradually disappeared, and we confirmed the healthy growth of plants with the fully matured horse manure compost.

Based on these results, we determined it was a reliable product and decided to set up a dedicated composting area as part of the facilities in the new building under construction, and fully implemented it.

Evaluation After Implementation

The concerns about working with a distant company in Shimane Prefecture were unfounded. During the implementation, MIRAIE responded promptly and efficiently, allowing us to start full-scale operation without any worries.

Since the implementation, the equipment has proven to be very simple, as intended, and has operated without any issues or troubles.

Nearly three years have passed since we started, and we have successfully established an internal cycle where horse manure compost is used to grow pasture grass in the grazing areas.

It is puzzling why such a simple and useful composting system is not more widely adopted.
